Trade directories followed on from the early almanacs in which less than a handful of
Smiths (Gun) appear. This is surprising as throughout the 17th century Dublin had a
very healthy supply of gunsmiths as can be seen from the attached link*.

Interestingly, Michael Rainsford is noted as having had both Thomas Truelock
(Freeman 1753) and Pat' Boyd (Freeman 1762), in his service.
