                                  An Apprentice Run Away.
 “Whereas on Wednesday the 12th of October, 1796, the following indentured apprentice to Thomas Nevit (sic) , gun-maker, Liverpool, absented himself from the service of his said master, without cause or complaint, and is supposed to be now working in Dublin. Notice is hereby given , that a reward of two guineas will be paid to any person apprehending the said apprentice, and all justifiable expenses allowed for bringing him back to his said master; and any person harbouring or employing him after this public notice , will be prosecuted as the law directs.
Robert Blackburn , 19 years of age, about five feet six inches high, rather slender made, and has a large mark on the left side of his head, occasioned by a fall from his horse”

Robert Mc Cormick had left Dublin for America and was to be employed by the U.S. Government to make arms, yet by 1801 he had met the same fate and was inprisoned as a debtor. James Haslett a fellow Irishman and superintendant of McCormick took over the running of the contracts.
