All the above gunmakers would have been vehemently opposed to the introduction of the 1843
Registration Act as can be seen by the letter written to the Honourable E.G. Stanley by Wm & Jn Rigby in 1831. Please refer to Great Irish Gunmakers Messrs Rigby 1760-1869 by D.H.L Back..1992. Page 58/59.

We have covered this legislation quite thoroughly in our older posts but would be pleased to hear from anyone with additional data related to this Act or pertaining to the above gunsmiths.

   A very honest pair of 38 bore Percussion O/U Belt Pistols retailed by Henry Allport of Cork. c.1840

                        Top flat engraved H. Allport. Cork. Blued Belt Clips to left hand side.
              Scroll engraved and acid etched frames and hammers. Captive ramrods. 
                                       Internal hinged buttcaps. Vent screws.

                                              Trade label for the period c.1856/1863.
