Dudley Westropp's original handwritten list of Irish gunmakers did contain John Skeltons details but they were omitted from his well known list? The above details were taken supposedly from "Pigot's Trades Directory of 1846"? However, subsequent research has determined that J. Pigot's were taken over by Slater's c.1846. Therefore, the heading "Pigot's 1846 directory" is an error. What is evident is the fact that Dudley Westropp actually went thoroughly through the 1846 Slater's directory and unearthed many gunsmiths/gunmakers that were listed under "Miscellaneous" & "Traders".
