Belfast "UFO's" engraved by Joseph Braddell & Son now "IFO's"..

The Unidentified Firing Objects now identified.

Please refer to our earlier blog dated 12/4/2016.
The loose locks found with swivel long nose firing pins.
Locks engraved J. Braddell & Son.

An advertisement from the 1860's showing the locks in use.

Attached Striker Lock

Also referred to as  1. Linked Striker Lock
       2. Pivoted Linked Striker Lock
Attached Striker Locks are quite rare as there was no special advantage gained for the extra work required, and the striker could jam within the slot to the breech.

See Patent No. 1525 of 3 June 1865 granted to A. Lancaster (Fig 1.)

W.W. Greener was also granted patent No.800 dated 7th March 1868.

Our thanks to both Leslie Martin & Tony Murray for photography and data.
