William Kavanagh. Single Trigger.

William Kavanagh

Gunmaker
 Dublin

        Kavanagh backaction lock, magazine stock,
over & under pistol with single trigger. (Non selective)
                                                                        C. 1835
When we consider "single selective" triggers now employed by the modern shotgun we can trace this technology back through to Kavanagh and his one time employee (apprentice) and fellow Irishman, Stephen Grant.  Following the death of Thomas Boss in 1857 Grant went on to become managing partner of  Boss & Co.. prior to establishing his own company in St James, London in 1866.

Deeply etched and engraved lockplate with " Kavanagh".
