                               Advertisement as printed in The Volunteer Journal of 1784.

          George Alley was the brother of the late Lewis (Lew) Alley who died in April 1783.

George Alley advertised the fact that he made his own barrels both smooth and rifled. He is recorded as having made rifles equal to those of Col.. Ferguson the Patentee!

Sligo Duel 1759.

Sligo 10th August, 1759.
Last Wednesday morning at three o'clock a duel was fought in the backyard of a public house in this town between two gentlemen, one of whom received a ball through the leg.
