The Hunter name has been associated with the Belfast guntrade since c.1877. In 1914 both Adam and William Hunter (Hunter & Son) appealed against the seizure of a consignment of arms imported from England and sued for damages. They argued that the Proclamation could not be applied to isolated parts of the Kingdom. See the attached Links.
