Very little is recorded of this gunsmith excepting the fact that he died in 1779.
Reference here to "Two case of brass mounted pistols, and two guns, mounted in the same manner",  gives us a little insight into his modus operandi at this time.

The proprietors of the Royal Irish Gunpowder Works, near Cork, beg leave to inform the public, that Mr. Thomas McPherson, 54 Abbey Street, being appointed their agent in Dublin, will receive and execute such orders as he may be favoured with.

The proprietors trust that this Powder will be found, upon trial, at least as equal to any that can be imported, and that the quality of the Shooting powder will be found uncommonly excellent, and very superior to any other manufactured in Ireland. Licensed dealers, at a distance from the capital, can be without delay, constantly supplied, by applying above- Where also may be had, every description of the best English Patent Shot, by wholesale."
