We are not informed as to whether this was Mr. William Rigby or his brother, John? who had decided to take this rifle into a public place, in the centre of Dublin, to try it!  They were obviously not just trying the gun for ignition but range! At this time they enjoyed the ownership of a sixty feet shooting gallery beneath the premises at 24 Suffolk Street and this must have been condidered too short a range to try this East India bound rifle.

Please refer to our older post with respect to the Rigby family of gunmakers.
