Throat hole Cock. Interestingly, Pattison at this time used this bird symbol (Dove?) with a sprig of grass/wheat? in its beak.

It has also been noted on other weapons by this gunmaker.

William Pattison is listed in the Pigot & Co trade directory of 1824. However, as we will see he is also quoted as having commenced business in 1828? This be believe is an error due to him being enlisted in the army for the period 1825-1832.

William Pattison enlisted in the 39th Regiment of foot on 7/6/1825 and was discharged on the 31/7/1832 having made the rank of Armourer Sergeant. As can be seen he operated in Newtown Limavady, County Londonderry, Ireland as a gunmaker prior to joining the the army and on release was part of the diaspora, arriving in Australia and establishing himself in Sydney c. 1832/1833*
