                                                Harp, Crown and "Hammer" Mark c.1712

                            This blog should be read in conjunction with our blog of 18/3/2019.

    These proof marks had a very short shelf life as the use of the harp was challenged by the Dublin        Goldsmiths Corporation who considered the harp mark unique to themselves. 

                       This is an extremely rare mark and the first the writer has encountered.

  A percussion pistol with magazine stock, captive ramrod assembly. Back Action Lock engraved "Goodson". Round steel barrel with top sighting channel with "Dublin" inscribed within.

Top views showing the sighting channel to the barrel and breech. In addition, the hinged magazine stock. The lower image showing the captive ramrod assembly and white metal escutcheon engraved "THG" including an unidentified crest.
