It's interesting that this Irish Trulock & Son 'Improved' side hammer hand rotated 5 shot pepperbox revolver bears some resemblance to another example, a six shot side hammer pepperbox by James Purdey, sold by Christies on 25th October 2001 as part of the W Keith Neale collection. Was it the forerunner to the central hammer pepperbox revolver? Was there a commercial relationship between William Trulock and James Purdey as some features are similar? Was there a patent for this example by Trulock & Son, engraved below the maker's name as 'Improved'?
