Arms (Ireland) Act (1843)
As many readers will be aware I started a survey on the 1843 Registration Act (Firearms), some thirty years ago and have published various articles on this Act and in addition published listings of weapons found branded with the County/Borough prefixes and licence numbers.
When this blog (ramrodantiques.blogspot.com), was launched back in 2012 it was thought worthwhile in listing all the weapons found so registered.
This we achieved in 2015 & 2016 and all these details are still available on the blog. However, a lot of water has gone under the bridge since then and many collectors ,students and friends have kindly forwarded additional numbers and for this reason, over the next couple of months, we will updating each County/Borough.
The official returns are quite confusing and don’t fully marry-up with the findings on our survey.
