John B. Murray was involved in the takeover of George Richardson (Gunmakers) of 87 Patrick Street, Cork and this company later became Thomas W. Murray (Gunmakers).
The 1856 Slaters Directory of Ireland states that George Richardson was trading alone at 87 Patrick Street, a company he established in 1828. However, in the Robert H. Laing, Cork Mercantile Directory of 1863 it is evident that John B. Murray was now the only gunmaker trading from 87 Patrick Street, Cork. It wasn't until circa 1867 that the company changed to Thomas W. Murray and in the 1880's became Thomas W. Murray & Co.. and the company still trades today in Patrick Street, Cork as T.W. Murray Co. Ltd..
Please refer to our amended older posts with respect to this company of gunmakers dated 30/5/2016, 29/5/2016, 25/5/2016, 18/2/2016 & 23/10/2015.
