John Silk
Gun Maker
Dublin.
The Drop-Down Pan.
One of a pair of duelling pistols made by John Silk with the drop-down pan feature.Gold washed drop-down pan and gold touch hole c. 1805
This feature making the cleaning and removal of the touch-hole much simpler.
The inventor of this system is not known but John Silk and either Thomas or John Pattison of Dublin have work utilising this system. It may well be an Irish invention by either of the aforementioned gunmakers? (research ongoing)
