                                                                       Shop Raid.

The Illustrated London News 4th January 1868.

The shop of Mr. Allport, gunsmith, in Patrick-street, Cork was entered about nine o'clock
on Monday morning by a gang of eight men, who pointed loaded revolvers at Mr. Allport, his
brother and the shopman, threatening to shoot them dead if they dared move or make a
noise.
The assailants then deliberately collected sixty revolvers and 150 rounds of ammunition,
which they put into two sacks and carried off.
Five of the men busied themselves in this work of plunder, while the other three kept
guard over Mr. Allport and his two assistants. The police have not yet overtaken these
daring offenders.
