Under the Registration Act of 1843 long guns are invariably stamped on both the barrel and buttplate.
This blunderbuss having been stamped DN 7210 (County Down) following an initial stamping error.

Following the death of his father ( John McCormick, d.1785, Gunsmith ), Robert confirms his continuance of the business and was seeking to employ an apprentice. Dated 11th April 1785.
